Lake temperature the 27th of July was 79 degrees.
Excellent Walleye Fishing today with serveral large fish caught today. Fished the 887/425 area most of the day. Fish were high in the morning and dropped quickly as the sun rose in the sky. The after noon period from 12:30 to 2:30 was very slow.

Excellent Walleye: fishing occurred over the past weekend. Most of the action was north of Walnut Creek to the Point on the Peninsula at a distance from shore ranging 7 to 12 miles north. The fish continue to be on the huge side with one reported to be close to 12 pounds. The fish can also be found in small scattered pockets in the second trench west to the Ohio border.

Perch: Action has been slow but there are a lot of fish around. This action should begin late August and continue well through the fall.

Smallmouth Bass: The smallmouth continue to be found in the shallow water. The action has slowed from the great days of May and June. but the fish can still be found. Minnows and Tubes are working well. Smallmouth can be found along the entire PA shoreline.

Presque Isle Bay: Pan fish are the fish of the bay at this time. The bay is now very weeded. The low water level of the bay has also been of concern as many boater have hit or been churning the bottom.

Steelhead: Walleye fishermen are catching a good many steelhead at the north side of the trench, on the hump between the trenches and north of the light house on the peninsula. Looks like another fantastic steelhead season in the making this fall. Action here is good.
