EASTERN-ERIE COUNTY REPORT
WCO MARK KERR - DISTRICT 1015
Covering the following Erie & Warren County Townships:
Erie County Warren County
*Northeast *Amity *Concord *Columbus
*Spring Creek
*Greenfield *Union *Freehold
*Pittsfield
*Venango *Wayne *Sugar Grove

....Stream Conditions:
As of the afternoon on 04-20-99, streams were running at slightly
above
average flow and with little discoloration; despite this areas recent
rainfall. Average stream
temperatures are in the mid-40's(F).

....Looking' for a little elbow room??
Can't seem to find a spot that let's you leave the crowd behind??
Take
your chances at one of the following areas and after a little leg work
you'll find the spaces opening up!!

*BLUE EYE RUN (Warren County):
Flowing within State Game Land #143's almost 9,000 acres of oak, beech
and cherry, this approved trout water receives heavy pressure from the lower
game lands
gate downstream towards SR 0027. However, upstream of the lower gate an
access road
will roughly parallel this watercourse for almost three(3) miles; perfect for
a
morning/afternoon mountain bike excursion. Once one gets much above the area
surrounding the pistol range fishermen become few and far between.
Additionally, given the heavily forested watershed, this stream generally
remains fishable when many
others aren't due to heavy flow and/or discoloration. Creel's have
been fair to good through the opening week. The access to this area is
located on SR 0027, approximately 3/4 mile east of the junction of SR 0426
and SR 0027 in Pittsfield Township,
Warren County.

*FRENCH CREEK~SOUTH BRANCH (Erie County):
Riley-Siding Road Terminus...
This PFBC stocked area is privately owned and open to fishing
(walk-in-only) through the courtesy of the landowner. A friendly reminder
that respecting
and following the ‘outdoorists' code of ethics will go far in
maintaining a good relationship between the fishing public and the individual
landowner... mind your stream manners! After parking at the
dead-end, access is walk-in-only. In order to locate the stream,
look for the trail marked with PFBC signage and follow.
Approximate walk time is on the order of five(5)-seven(7) minutes.
This area may be found by taking SR 0006 east as it divides from SR
0008 in the borough of Union City--Union Township, Erie County.
Continue on SR 0006 east for approximately 2 ½ miles, then turn right onto
Mitchell
Road, prior to Union City Fish Hatchery. Continue on Mitchell and
veer right onto Riley-Siding Road [approximately 3/4 mile passed (east) Oneil
Road].
Continue on Riley-Siding until it ends at parking area. Also, please be
cognizant that minor logging operations have been on-going in this area. Do
not
drive on, block or restrict the owners access to subject logging roads.

New in-season fishing opportunities:
Through the courtesy of several landowners, new fishing opportunities
will be available, after the second week in May ‘99, along Spring
Creek-- Spring Creek Township, Warren County. Subject area is that
portion of Spring Creek from the Oil Creek Road (SR 3001) bridge
downstream until the end of the posted PFBC signage. Respect the
wishes of the landowners... keep clear of residences, do not drive on
lands or block driveways/cattleways, don't litter, etc. (you know the
rules). Most importantly... BE POLITE AND TREAT THE LANDOWNER AS YOU
WOULD WISH OTHERS TO TREAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!
