*Lake Erie surface temperatures are around 50 degrees. Be sure to check the
latest marine forecast for up-to-date lake conditions.*

Central Basin-

The best walleye fishing in the central basin has been from W of the Huron
River to Vermilion. Trollers are catching fish on deep diving crankbaits or
divers with spoons. Fish size has ranged from 16" to over 30". Walleye
have also occasionally been caught by shore anglers from pier breakwalls at
night.

Yellow perch fishing continues to be excellent in the central basin. Best
areas have been near the Vermilion River, the Lorain sandbar, 4 miles N of
Edgewater at the Cleveland Crib in 50 feet of water, and 1 to 3 miles N from
Fairport Harbor to Conneaut in 35 to 50 feet of water. Spreaders tipped
with shiners are taking fish from 9 to 12".

Steelhead fishing was good up to the time the rains came Tuesday. The
rivers and creeks are rising quickly. Look for the fishing to pick back up
once the rain water moves through and the waters clear. Anglers have been
catching fish all along the Grand River up to Harpersfield Dam. The
steelhead have ranged in size from 16 to 28". Anglers are using Little
Cleos, jigs tipped with maggots and egg (spawn) sacks. Check with local
bait shops for up-to-date river conditions.
