Wash, Rinse & Repeat. Eat, Sleep & Fish. It’s like the movie Ground Hog Day. Over and over and over. We have now settled into the part of the season for me where everything seems to just blur together. Day after day we do the same exact thing with the same exact results. Early to bed, early to rise. Limits of Walleyes and back to the dock. And the days just keep clicking by. Life is good right now if you’re a full time charter captain. Walleye fishing really has never been any easier. They are everywhere and they are very eager to hit anything we offer them. This report will be on the shorter side because there really isn’t a whole much more to say! |
I don’t even have much to say about the weather in this report other then that we have finally had the longest stretch of absolutely fabulous weather of the entire summer out over the big lake! For about two and a half weeks now the waves have been forecasted to be only 1 to 2 foot and for the most part that’s about what it has been. A few thunderstorms darted around us or have passed over the lake late in the day but not really affecting any of us morning guys. It’s still been a bit toasty out there by mid day but again with us fishing mostly in the cool of the morning, it’s not even worth harping about. I’ll take it! |
It’s been a good while now since we’ve even put the planer boards out. We are strictly on a Dipsy Diver & spoon program. And we can’t even keep them in the water! Like yo yo’s they are back and fourth just about as fast as you can go. You no sooner set one and it’s going off already! Lead lengths have been very forgiving. Pick a number! if a Dipsey gets away from you and goes out too far, no worries. It catches a Walleye! You get busy and stop one way short to do something, it catches a Walleye! All I got to say is pinch me! This has to be a dream! |
So it’s August already. Like I mentioned earlier, the days just keep clicking by. In just another week or so the kids will start going back to school. Football camps and practices will be starting up in earnest. Yes, all the signs point towards the fact that the better part of this summer is now in the rear view mirror for us. I mentioned I believe in my last report that a bit of fatigue was setting in for me as per usual by about this time of year. But you know what, with this long stretch of nice weather now and the easy fishing it really isn’t all that bad. The routine and just having to be up everyday at 2:30am is starting to get a bit old but I keep telling myself now hey you got this with not much more then a month to go now. After Labor Day, it’s all down hill! Check back in a couple of weeks for the latest... Capt Walt Trophy Charters |
