There have been some walleye caught by ice anglers, primarily west and northwest of Catawba Island, prior to the weekend of Jan. 11. However, above freezing temperatures, rain and wind have made ice conditions extremely dangerous since then. Be cautious when ice fishing the offshore areas of Lake Erie.

Anglers are encouraged to always wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device while boating.
