Fishing Is Slow 07/17/2010

WALLEYE:

Tim Green from Butler PA came in with his nice 8 pound 15 ounce Walleye for Angler Award. It was 28 ½ inches long and had a girth of 16 ¾ inches. He caught it out in 67 ft of water straight out of Walnut Creek on Bagleys Bango lure. The color was Chartreuse.

Kenneth Lambert of Springboro, PA came in with his Walleye which was 9 pounds 14 ounces, 28 inches long , 18 ½ inch girth. He caught it out in 90 ft of water straight out of Lampe Marina. He was using an Orange plug on a Dipsy.

Ron Razete of Pittsburgh, PA and Nick Grenzig of Youngstown, OH came in with a couple 7 pounders. They caught seven fish altogether ranging from 25 inches to 29 ½ inches. They were caught out in 73-78 ft of water West of Elk Creek on Dipsy Divers , 3.5 setting, 140’ -180’ back using Watermelon harnesses.

The Walleye seem to be hard to find if you are looking for a big amount. They are not schooled up. I have heard of boats going in as close as 28 ft and out as deep as 80 ft. They are hit and miss to catch. Not very many limits coming in.

PERCH:

The Perch seem to be all around. They just are not biting. Theory is that there is so much bait fish out there they are gorging themselves on it. They are out there just not hungry. There are a few boats limiting but not like it was a couple years ago. They are out in 48 ft and up to 70 ft of water.
