Early August 2021 walleye fishing was for the kids and the Captain

The beginning of the month of August finds many large walleye caught in the 65 to 75 foot of water depth range along the south side of the first trench. Kids have a great time baiting and dropping their lines to catch their own walleye.

Aboard the Sea Wolf we mostly fish rod in hand using Nightcrawler harnesses drifting at or near the bottom. This makes it easy for the young ones to be involved in the fishing fun. Battling those large sheephead and the many perch caught keep them busy.

Many large walleye continue to fill the cooler all month long.

Aboard the "SeaWolf" we usually only fish one rod in hand. Occasionally the captain fishes with the customers. On this day the captain caught at 7 and a 1/2 pound walleye.

A couple hours later the captain got another big fish on. This was down deep at the bottom 75 feet. This fish was fighting."Is it a another big sheephead?" I think to myself. Straight down and halfway up off the bottom then back down it goes. This goes on for a couple more up and down fights. Oh! is it a big cat? No! As it revealed it self-WALLEYE! with that exciting view of that white tip on the tail.

Many people ask me do I go out and fish on my days off. Heck NO! I get all the fishing I want each and every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tight lines
Captain Ron
