Fishing Report by Captain Ron Rusch

Excellent Smallmouth Actionat Shades Beach Sunday May 30th

Sunday May 30th finds good smallmouth action at Shades Beach area east of Presque Isle Bay Pennsylvania. Just started drifting in 20 feet when action began.

Wind was light out of the south east. Smallies continued to feed on the golden shiners presented to them.

The good bite brought doubles of smallies dancing on the water.

Eighteen to twenty-five feet was the best water depth.

Moved several miles to the east but the action was slower only catching a few. (water was more muddy) Moving back towards Shades Beach as the wind also moved to the northeast and increasing.

The fun of catching a triple brings excitement as all eye watch the smallies dancing on the water.

The wind continued to increase but the bite was on all day at Shades. Perch were also very abundant with many caught. The week has been a species week with every trip catching a wide variety of fish. Good days for catching smallmouth bass continue to be in the future for several more weeks. Action begins to slow when we get into July.
