Lake Erie Smallmouth Saturday May 10 2003
The morning began in Presque Bay with warm southeast breeze. Bay temperature 51 degrees. Motored out thru the channel and east several miles past the Cribs, watching the water temp drop to 44 degrees and the wind changed quickly to the northeast and very cold. Within minuets we had a smallmouth double on minnows.
Fish were biting fairly well in the 25 foot depth level just near the shallower water ridge.
The wind shifted all day from the northeast to northwest back and forth. The only slow time was when the wind was dead for a short time. After a cold light rain the wind picked up and the fish were hitting again.
The day ended on a fantastic double of two 20 inch smallmouth. Great Day!
