WCO Joe Russell Pymatuning Lake - the south end of the lake is still seeing a lot of boat traffic but the fish seemed to be slow today. That could be to because we have had really great weather for the last week or so and they seem to bite better with foul weather. Some fishermen are still having luck fishing from the shore and a few brave souls donned waders and waded last night( not sure how they did though, I didn't want to call them in just to ask.) Live bait from shore seems to be the ticket and if you are in a boat, jigging with a sonar seems to be the most productive. Remember to get your bait before you get here as Richter's bait shop is still not open (they are rebuilding right now though.) Conneaut Lake - pressure here has still been really slow, however the boats I have checked have told me they are still picking up northerns, bass and a few crappies. One good thing also is the BOWFINS have slowed down and are not being caught as much. This lake is still an excellent choice if you want to avoid the crowds at the ramps. Live bait seems to be working the best but stick baits and jigs are having some success as well. Ice season is coming soon, last year after I first got here we had 2 people go through the ice and one fatality, two days before Christmas. There is no fish in the world worth your life. Don't chance it and wear a life jacket or float coat. Last year I had people laying ladders out on the ice because it was so thin and some individuals even went so far as to strap 2x4 lumber to their feet just to spread their weight out. Please stay off the ice if there is any question of how thick it is or how good the condition of it is.
