WCO Joe Russell - Western Crawford County fishcop16@hotmail.com Conneaut Lake- Bluegills abound from the reports I have been receiving from fishermen in Huidiekooper Bay. Fishermen are taking large numbers by drifting a jig or maggot under a bobber and fishing the shallows and weed beds. Some pike and bass are also being taken as well. Pymatuning Lake- The hot spot for this lake this week has to be the causeway. Fishing a suspended worm at night or late in the day is producing the most fish. WCO Morder recently came to the lake camping with his family and he caught some this way. (and if he can catch them anyone can). Some fishermen have also relayed success stories of drifting and trolling with hot-n-tots as well, so that may be something to keep in mind. Muskies are still being caught by fishermen trolling but it seems the most dedicated ones who target them specifically are the one who are having the best luck. Turtle trapping has exploded in this area so if you happen to see milk jugs floating in the lake or a pond that is probably the reason. If you are interested in trapping turtles don't forget it does require a fishing license, as well as other rules to follow. It is regulated so don't just go out and grab them... they are protected by these regulations.
