Pymatuning Lake-
the word for the day over the weekend was musky, with
several very nice ones being caught. The range seemed to be from 27" to 49"
and all were caught by trolling large jigs. I spoke with several fishermen
from the Penn-Ohio chapter of Muskie Inc. and they all said they were having
pretty good luck. Shore fishermen are still picking up some walleye but not
the big numbers that they were earlier in the year. The break wall at the
Espyville Marina seems to be were most of the activity was happening.
Bluegill are still doing good but have slowed down a little with the rains
that we have had lately. A habitat management project will be taking place
the 18th and 19th of July and anyone interested in helping with building
fish structures or improving the fishery should help out with this
worthwhile project. If interested contact the Pymatuning lake association or
E-mail me for details.

Conneaut Lake-
Pike were being caught over the weekend on a fairly frequent
basis by fishermen using jigs and Rappalas, Bass and bluegill were also
being caught however not as often as the pike. The secret seems to be to
fish when the boats and jetskis are not out. All the fishermen I spoke with
mentioned that once boating traffic picked up the fishing sort of shut down.
Best times seem to be either early morning or late in the day. Don't forget
this excellent fishery has produced 3 state records if you just hit it at
the right time of day. (and have a little luck)
