WALLEYE:

Eleven year old Levi Garrett from Claysville, PA came in with this 7 pound 13 ½ ounce walleye. He and his crew were fishing out from the point in 90-93 ft of water. He caught it on a blue and green stinger.

Ten year old Alex, seven year old Fred, and Twelve year old Dean Baker of Fairview went out with their granddad (SeaWolf) and came in with their limit (16) of Walleye and 40 perch. They had a nice catching day. They caught them out in the first Trench on worm harnesses.

They seem to be catching the Walleye better now than they were before. Most are being caught out in the first and second trench. This week has been pretty good for catching. Purple and Black seem to be the colors of choice for most of the time. Watermelon and lemon/lime are also good. There are a lot of little ones this year. The 14 inch ones should be the nice 18 inch ones next year. Even thought next year they are lowering the size to 15 inches.

PERCH:

Mark Lenco of Washington, PA came in with this nice 1 pound 5 ½ ounce perch. He and his buddy caught their limit just east of the pack which is straight out of Walnut in 52 ft of water.

The same goes for the Perch as for the Walleye. Most of the boaters are going straight out of Walnut to 52-54 ft of water and coming back in with their limits. Also, going east a little between here and the Condos seem to be doing pretty good. Emerald shiners are the best but I have heard that a lot of the bait stores are out of them. Golden and pinheads are doing okay as are the frozen ones.

I have had a lot of people ask about the size and creel limit for Perch. The size and limit is the same until sometime after Labor Day. It will be announced in the Pennsylvania Bulletin which not too many people get. It is a bulletin put out by the Governor and you have to have a subscription. I will report it when I hear.

STEELHEAD:

Twelve year old Shelsea Binek of Pittsburgh came in with this 9 pound Steel head. She also caught a 9 pound 2 ounce Walleye. Her and her dad were fishing in the first trench. She caught the Steel head on purple spoon and the Walleye on a purple worm harness.

A few boaters are picking the Steelhead up out in the trenches but not in any big amounts. Just one here and one there. The water temperature is still too warm. As of this writing it is 75 degrees.

Annual Walnut Creek Fish Fry

Don't forget to sign up for it. It is a bring a "Dish and Fish" setup. It is being held this year on September 11 at 1:00. The sign-up sheets are in the lobby. We also need paper plates, plastic silver ware, paper towels, and styrofoam cups if you can't think of anything to make.
