The night began Thursday 5/23/2002 Walnut Creek. Conditions were excellent, warm south breeze, calm water and a near full moon.

The hour or so before dark provided some non walleye action. Trolled for many hours in the dark with no action (7 to 20 feet near shore three to four miles both sides of Walnut)

At 11:30 PM, the wind began picking up briskly from the southwest, waves began building and it was getting cold.

12:30 AM The decision to quit in 10 minuets was made. Two minuets later the fire drill began. Walleye on! Got off!

Turned to go back through the same spot, hats flew and the wind wrapped us up with a huge tangle in the dark. The night was ended, but with a walleye on one of the non tangled lines as we drifted through the hot spot.

That after noon a decision to fish for smallmouth on the east side was made. Wind was calming from the northwest and the bass began to bite.

Continued to drift east with good results in the 20 foot depth.

Doubles began coming in like crazy.

The doubles were all big smallies hitting minnows. Big or small didn't matter.

The great day came to an end with a great sunset. WOW!
