Erie WCO Report - July 18, 2001 WCO John Bowser - Western Erie County Walleye… Catches are averaging about 5 per boat but when they are lucky enough to find a pocket of fish, limits are being observed. West Side best bet has been in the 40-45' water depth off of Elk Creek though White Bass will be caught at a faster rate than the Walleye. A bit farther to the west at the '280 line in the same water depth was a nice pocket of fish on Tuesday the 17th. Boats have been scattered across the entire lake to the Second Trench. The '886 & '888's have been producing giant "hogs" in the 31-32" range but not in great numbers. The East Side has had activity off of 16-Mile Creek on the Mountain. All areas seem to be doing best with worm harnesses off of dipsy's. Colors range from watermelon to the purple/black combination. Yellow Perch… They are still off of Trout Run. Anglers are limiting out on them and then going for the walleye. Emerald Shiners remain the hot bait. Walnut Creek… Expect overflow crowds on good weekends. Be patient & courteous while launching, retrieving, & parking. Officers will not tolerate inappropriate language or behavior. Remember that you are all there to relax & enjoy. Think before you Drink… Fines for Boating Under the Influence range from $500.00 to $7,500.00 with up to 2 years imprisonment. Have a designated driver and know your limits.
