Walleye Fishing Report
for Maumee and Sandusky Rivers
April 9, 2003

Maumee River - 40°F, water is high & muddy, pressure is low. Anglers are catching an occasional walleye – mostly males 16-22”. Best areas are Sidecut & Orleans Park – from the shoreline. The island is inaccessible. Anglers are using floating jigs heads with chartreuse or fluorescent orange twister tails. OUTLOOK SHOULD IMPROVE WITH WARMER TEMPS.

Sandusky River - 40°F, water is high but dropped 12”-18” overnight. The water is very turbid with the pressure being very low. Anglers are catching fair numbers of walleye – mostly males. Best area has been downstream from State Street Bridge. Best baits are 3/4 oz. jigs in orange or pink. OUTLOOK SHOULD IMPROVE WITH THE WATER LEVEL DROPPING & CLEARING & THE WARMER TEMPERATURES.
