It’s happening! This past week it was as if someone flipped a switch. The weather straightened out and all the reefs came to life. Walleye fishing on all the reefs is as good as it gets right now. We limited the boat out the last five trips straight. The fish are also moving up on the beaches west of Davis Besse although these fish running a bit smaller, 2 – 3 lb. Jacks. We took two really big females in the slightly deeper water surrounding Toussaint Reef on Thursday. These fish were easily in the 9 1/2 lb. to 10 lb. class although we did not weigh them. Jigs and minnows worked well as did the blade baits. Water clarity is back to excellent and surface temps are running the upper 40’s. The big female Walleyes have been rolling on the surface everywhere! It’s been quite a show. Although I haven’t been there myself, I hear they have been killing the Walleyes under the railroad bridge in the Sandusky Bay. A few Walleyes are starting to be caught by the trollers north of the reefs. If the weather holds, this coming week should be awesome.
