Well I have been out on the lake off of Catawba State Park for over a week. The ice is good inside the 911 crack which ranges from 8-12 inches. But south of the park, push ice is under the good ice which makes it hard to fish it. Past the first and second push, ice ranges from 4-10 inches, remember that was open on New Years day, and the pushes have soft spots. In the passage it is still questionable, a few airboats are running and the parking lot has an average of 20 vehicles. Remember, safety is a life saver, I have seen some stupid anglers just this week, don't push your luck it's still early ice fishing and I am running my HD5 in my quad. Reports from Crane Creek is alot of push ice and 4-5 inches, no activity as of yet. The bay and harbors have good ice but remember the current. Fishing report is slow right now for the islands, mainland and bay, but it's early and the water clarity is 15-20 feet. I have some openings in feb. and give me a call on current ice conditions.
