Well, will we have any safe ice to fish on and are the fish being caught. Those are the questions that I'm asked at the dock daily by many. The 911 crack is very well defined when you look west from the pier. On sunday there was open water just west of the crack, now the ice has pushed in and there is a major push at the crack. Inside the crack from the point heading south, the original ice is still there and ranging from 7-9 inches, being clear and soild with snow on it. Outside the crack is bad ice with snow and it's open in the south passage. The water clarity is about 10+ feet. I was fishing in 16' today and I could count the zebra mussels. A few came from Michigan and caught two gators today, otherwise the only area that is producing gators is the island area, just west of South Bass Island.
I am still not running charters due to the ice conditions, but I have gone out to fish.
The bay is producing perch at the bay bridge and White's Landing. Also, panfish is being caught in the East Harbor area.
Remember, although we will have below 32 temps for the next week, ice conditions are still questionable and unsafe.

Good fishin
