Well it doesn't look good for the remainder of the ice fishing on the big lake. The ice is broken in the western end and alot of open water, thanks the the coast guard cutter that cut a path to the Detroit River over 10 days ago. They can say the cutter had nothing to do with the Crane Creek break, but the ice was locked in from Pelee Island, Kelley's Island, and west. There were a few cracks but the locked ice was the best in recent years. By cutting a path it gave the ice a chance to push and shift in high winds, causing what we now have. Right now there is no safe ice on the lake. Oh well, it's over and we can look forward to the upcoming spring and getting the boats ready for it. We still have some dates left so give us a call, this weekend I'm heading to Michigan to finish my ice fishing for the year. Good fishin Capt Bob Hughey |
