Well this was the first official trip for the 2009 season. The parking lot was full by 8 am and they ran west off the state park. The bait buckets were full of minnows from Rickards Bait and Tackle ane the reports from yesterday was "slow fishing".

I ran 3 plus miles west, sat by myself, and drilling my holes and waited until 10 am to land my first walleye of the season. After the smoke cleared I only took two nice males back for a fresh walleye dinner and missing five more(being rusty over the winter), and released three 14 inchers. Yes, there seems to be alot of small walleye being caught, remember 15" is the size limit on the big lake. That stock will be ready by mid-summer.

The ice is about 8" but remember ice can be unsafe ice on this lake. I was a very good ride out. I plan to run for the next 9 days. This is a very good start for the season, be safe!
