WALLEYE:
Based on the weather, the walleyes should continue throughout this month in style. Last weekend the best location was in Canadian waters. Limits of very nice walleyes came from casting harnesses and weight forwards in waters of 15-24 feet. Best time was in early morning and mid-afternoon. Remember, you have to have license and check-in on both side with customs. Back in the states the best areas was north of the firing range bouys and west of North Bass island. Also, 8 miles east of Kelley island was producing nice walleyes. Both the trollers and drifters have been producing in all those areas.
PERCH:
Some boats were doing very well throughtout the weekend on very nice size perch. The best areas were the range bouys and just west of the islands in 30' of water. Also, around Gull and Kelley reef area, northeast of Kelley reef, east of the airport in 40' of water, Cedar Point area and the Marblehead Lighthouse area were the hot spots. Early morning to mid-afternoon was the best time with reports of limits at the cleaners. Remember, this time of year the fish cleaners get long lines early in the day and waiting list could run up to 4 hours. Also, there are good supplies of shinners at the local bait shops.
