Walleye:
The walleye have started to pick back up on both sides fo the island area and the water temp. has started to drop for the upcoming fall fishing. Walleye are being caught trolling using spoons on jets and dipsys. The drifters are not doing as well as the trollers on the west side of the islands, but they are still boating a few in the early mornings. The best areas to catch walleye is north of the range cans and west of North Bass Island to G can.
Areas such as Gull and Kelley reefs are still holding walleye and good size perch. Going east of Kelley's Island both the drifters and trollers have been doing very well over the past 10 days. Large walleyes have been coming into the marina, as well as some limits. The best areas are in the 45' areas north of Huron area and this area should hold throughout the fall. The walleye fishing is just going to get better, and we still have some prime dates open.
PERCH:
The perch have been very good over the late month and will continue as long as mother nature helps. The best areas have been around the firing cans in deep water and west of Green and Rattlesnake Islands. Spreaders and minnows have been the best bait for the perch. Around Kelley's Island, good size perch have been caught with the best areas being the airport and the south side of the island. Lastly, the Lighthouse and Cedar Point fog horn are still producing good catches of perch. Any questions you can contact me at mrbass@lakeeriefishing911.com.
