OHIO’S WINTER BOAT SHOWS PROMOTE OUTDOOR RECREATION COLUMBUS, OH - This weekend marks the beginning of Ohio’s winter boat show season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Boat and recreation shows will be a highlight of the next six consecutive weekends around Ohio. Boat show attendees will see the latest models in watercraft and marine equipment and will have the opportunity to begin planning their outdoor recreational season in the Buckeye State. The boat shows offer opportunities to speak with ODNR officers and learn more about Ohio’s boating and fishing opportunities. The shows also offer information on safety education programs and the best places to enjoy boating and fishing on Ohio’s waterways. Recreational boating is a fun, safe and enjoyable activity that is affordable to most income levels. It is a significant contributor to the state’s $28 billion tourism industry. Ohio has more than 415,000 registered watercraft and ranks eighth nationally in the number of registered recreational watercraft. An estimated 3 million Ohioans enjoy boating each year. The boat show lineup begins with the Central Ohio Marine Dealers Association Boat & RV Show, January 8-16 at the Ohio Exposition Center in Columbus. The Cincinnati and Cleveland boat shows run simultaneously January 14-23 in the Cincinnati Convention Center and Cleveland’s I-X Center. The Miami Valley Boat Show in Dayton’s Hara Arena is held on two consecutive weekends, January 27-30 and February 3-6. Marine dealers then return again to the Ohio Exposition Center on February 10-13 for the Columbus Sports, Vacation and Boat Show.
