ODNR ANNOUNCES GRANTS TO IMPROVE 13 BOATING ACCESS FACILITIES ACROSS OHIOCOLUMBUS, OH - Boating access will be improved along 13 Ohio waterways thanks to more than $3,300,000 in grants recently awarded by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft. The grant awards range from a low of $17,000 for a canoe access facility located in the Clint Fultz River Access Park in Warren County, to a high of $852,823 for dock replacement and seawall repairs at Indian Lake State Park's Chippewa Marina in Logan County. Other funded projects include replacement and repair of existing boat facilities and construction of new sites in 11 Ohio counties. These Cooperative Boating Access Facility Program grants are made available through the Ohio Waterways Safety Fund, which is supported by boat registration and titling fees, a portion of the state motor fuel tax and funding from the U.S. Coast Guard. The grants are awarded and administered by the Division of Watercraft to improve boating access for the state's estimated 3,000,000 recreational boaters.
