ODNR ANNOUNCES GRANTS TO IMPROVE 13 BOATING ACCESS FACILITIES ACROSS OHIO

COLUMBUS, OH - Boating access will be improved along 13 Ohio
waterways thanks to more than $3,300,000 in grants recently awarded by the
Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.
The grant awards range from a low of $17,000 for a canoe access
facility located in the Clint Fultz River Access Park in Warren County, to a
high of $852,823 for dock replacement and seawall repairs at Indian Lake
State Park's Chippewa Marina in Logan County.
Other funded projects include replacement and repair of existing
boat facilities and construction of new sites in 11 Ohio counties.
These Cooperative Boating Access Facility Program grants are made
available through the Ohio Waterways Safety Fund, which is supported by boat
registration and titling fees, a portion of the state motor fuel tax and
funding from the U.S. Coast Guard. The grants are awarded and administered
by the Division of Watercraft to improve boating access for the state's
estimated 3,000,000 recreational boaters.
Additional information on Cooperative Boating Access Facility
program grants and other watercraft agency grants can be obtained on the
ODNR Internet web page at ohiodnr.com or by writing the ODNR Division of
Watercraft, 4435 Fountain Square Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43224.
