GOVERNOR PROMOTES LAKE ERIE SPORT FISHING AT ANNUAL FISH OHIO DAY CLEVELAND, OH -- Governor Bob Taft took rod and reel in hand today, fishing for yellow perch in Lake Erie as part of the annual Governor's Fish Ohio Day celebration. The Governor joined a group of 30, including members of the press and state wildlife officials to promote Lake Erie fishing. Fishing from Wildwood Marina at Cleveland Lakefront State Park, the group caught nearly 90 fish - with the Governor catching nine yellow perch. "Lake Erie is among the nation's finest fishing destinations for walleye, smallmouth bass and yellow perch," said Taft, who is also chairman of the Council of Great Lakes Governors. "While we enjoy some of the finest fishing today all across our 262-mile Lake Erie coast, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is working hard to ensure that our Lake Erie fishing will be preserved for the future."
