Fishing report for the week of August 21, 2011.

Ok, I give up. Twice I've wrote up a really nice article for this weeks fishing report. For whatever reason, my computer is crashing bad tonight and each time I am losing everything I've wrote up. I don't know what's going on but I am already beyond tired and I am not putting up with this crap any longer. So this is the report. Enjoy the pictures at the very least.

The short of what I was writing about was the weather. On the really nice days, fishing has been nothing short of fabulous. On the crap days, well fishing has been tougher to say the least. We saw it all again this past week. From super fast limits under ideal conditions to where we were thankful just to catch what we did under what we had to work with. We even caught a Brown Trout on one day !

I am sick of worrying about it though. I do what I can and the rest of it is out of my hands. It is the luck of the draw. Fate or whatever you want to call it but it is still all weather related and the chance you take when you are locked in to one particular date. On the nice days we have been doing great and on the windy, thunderstorm days and everything else days that gets thrown my way, not so very much. So far, the good days have been out weighing the bad but that is little consolation if you happen to come up on one of Erie's really ugly days. In a perfect world, everyone's trips would be absolutely perfect. But no two days around here are the same and this August is starting to wear on me bad. It is what it is however.

The fish are way out. Fuel bills are insanely incredible. Everyone's expectations are ridiculous with everyone expecting automatic limits before we even catch the first fish. The weather is starting to really wear on me bad again along with a lot of other things especially with the fish being so far out. I am really beginning to look forward to the end of this season. At least the end of this trolling part of it. Man, I wish I had a buck every time everyone tells me "what a really great job I have" . Yeah, right. All gravy. I am beat and going to bed. Good night. Damn computer...

Capt. Walt

OK, It's that time of year where we have to start rolling our departure time back a little bit because the days are staying dark so much longer. Rather then leave right at 5:00am, I am now telling everyone that we are pulling out at 5:30am. You still should be at the marina by 5:15 to get loaded up so we can be ready to roll by the desired time. I myself will still continue to be at the boat right around 5ish for now as always. And for those that still don't know it, there are no fishing licenses at the marina. You need to get those ahead of time. Call me if you have any questions or concerns.
