Fishing report for the week of June 25, 2011.

Another really GREAT week ! This was probably the best week of fishing we've had yet aboard "The Trophy" this 2011 season ! Except for a minor set back on both Friday & Saturday because of weather and wind where we "struggled to get into the teen's", "The Trophy" brought in limits or near limits of Lake Erie Walleye most each and every day otherwise this past week. Including Tuesday where we brought in 36 Walleyes and a nice Steelhead Trout for my 6 man Amish crew that day. Simply awesome ! Right around 30 Walleyes or just plus has been the norm most every day otherwise along with a token Steelhead Trout almost every day here lately. Did I mention AWESOME?

And the size is still blowing everyone away. I believe we've taken at least one 10 pound plus Walleye everyday now for like over 2 weeks now ! And several days we've done multiple fish in the 11 to 12 1/2 pound class ! Simply crazy ! The day we took 36 Walleyes we had 3 over 30 inches with the biggest right at 31 1/4 inches & 12 1/2 lbs. BIG BIG Walleyes !!!

And it's kind of neat seeing a few Steelhead Trout showing up almost each day now. Can you tell we are sticking our noses further and further offshore each day now ? Except for the added fuel expenses, man I really get off on being way off shore and fishing all by myself with no boats in site and having the Walleyes all to ourselves ! It's unbelievable how little fishing pressure this area is experiencing right now. Most days it's been me and the freighters out there and that's about it. I'm sure that will all change here real soon but for now I am really enjoying being able to do my job with out the usual smaller boats gawking at my every move that I make and the feeling that they need to be right on top of me to catch their own fish !

So I am still sitting on one open available date coming up, Monday, July the 4th. Fishing is very, very good right now and it should only get better ! Anyone interested in securing this 4th date can contact me directly at 216-387-2656 as most everyone knows by now. And if nobody is interested, I just might go out and stock my own freezer that day for a change ! I am getting supper jealous watching crew after my crew leave the marina with 40, 50 & even 60 pound plus of boneless, skinless Walleye fillets every day ! I'm sure I can make room in my own freezer for a load like that to carry me thru the long upcoming winter months which sadly will be here as always before you know it. I mean, can you even believe it's almost July already ? Crazy ! So give me a call.... It just might be your last chance !

Capt. Walt

*It is imperative that we get out early. These fish most of the time feed like crazy right at dawn and then really shut down when the sun gets higher. I am at the boat at 5:00am everyday and we need to be off the dock by 5:30am at the VERY LATEST ! For all of my upcoming trips, I urge you to be there as early as possible so we don't miss out on this opportunity. Also there are no fishing license sales at the marina again this summer so you guys have to get them on your own ahead of time. You can do so online or the local K-Mart or Wal-Mart here in Ashtabula which both are open 24 hours a day.
