Fishing report for the week of June 19, 2011.

Really rolling now ! We had a really GREAT week this past week aboard "The Trophy" with pretty much limit catches everyday and the size of the Walleyes also continues to not disappoint. We had a 12 1/2 pounder and a 11 1/2 pounder on one trip, all in the same day. Quite amazing stuff. And 10 pounders just don't seem like no big deal at all this summer. At least not so far. I just don't know how we can continue to carry an average size of fish like this all summer long. There just has to be some smaller stuff working their way down the lake I would hope. At least my back, elbows and shoulders hopes so. That's some serious tonnage netting fish that size all day long, every day. Serious tonnage !

I'm going to keep this report a bit shorter today as I have to fly down the road and go visit my father on this fathers day. Happy Fathers Day to all of you fathers out there and an extra special thanks to those fathers that I had out today that elected to spend their special day fishing with me. Sometimes this day is not all that easy to book but today's gang was rewarded with a nice limit catch of huge Walleyes plus a big Steelhead trout to boot. Only the 2nd one that we have captured this whole year thus far ! And speaking of spending a holiday fishing, I still have the 4th of July available if anyone would be interested. It should be a very prime date ! Man that's coming up fast too !

We caught fish this past week where I couldn't mark or catch fish the week before, in the 60 foot plus range. Things are really changing fast out there now but for the better as more and more migrating fish begin to spill into the area coming from who knows where. All I know is that I'm liking it. The only sad thing is as the fish begin to move offshore, the old fuel bills start to escalate once again as well. It was really nice there for a couple of weeks for me. But this is no big surprise. The Walleyes are right on schedule and doing their thing as they do every year and I am in hot pursuit. Most everyone seems to be appreciating my efforts and knows by now that I will go wherever I have to go to put good numbers of fish in the box. Regardless of the obscene prices at the marina pumps for boat fuel. And I am humbled by how well most of you have helped me out in that department. A big thanks as always guys !

I am once again enjoying myself out there and have even had some early days now and that is always nice when you are fishing 7 days a week. It's amazing what catching fish does for ones spirits. I know this whole season thus far has been way too stressful for me and all of us captains. Hopefully things will just continue to roll along nicely now that we're finally cooking for the next few months. Heaven knows we've already paid our dues in advance for this whole entire season and deserve lots of easier days ! Boat traffic out on the lake this way has been really light so far and I'm really enjoying that also as we close in on this latter part of the month of June. So all of you people reading my reports, keep all of this info to yourselves ! Lol ! Lol ! Lol ! Cya next week...

Capt. Walt

*It is imperative that we get out early. These fish most of the time feed like crazy right at dawn and then really shut down when the sun gets higher. I am at the boat at 5:00am everyday and we need to be off the dock by 5:30am at the VERY LATEST ! For all of my upcoming trips, I urge you to be there as early as possible so we don't miss out on this opportunity. Also there are no fishing license sales at the marina again this summer so you guys have to get them on your own ahead of time. You can do so online or the local K-Mart or Wal-Mart here in Ashtabula which both are open 24 hours a day.
