Another brutal week. It would have mattered little even if I would have had trips all of this past week. There was just no way anybody could have fished Monday thru Thursday, no matter how bad you would have wanted too. It was just that bad out there. I ended up loosing my one and only trip that I had scheduled on Wednesday. So what else is new ?
And for a very rare change, we finally got a break from all of the wind and rain and ended up with a VERY nice late season weekend. The weather finally broke on Friday and although I did not have a trip myself, I was pleased to hear that the guys who did go fishing had done very well. Truly amazing considering how many days in a row that the lake was seriously churned up . This has been happening over and over so far this fall. We get a bad blow for a bunch of days and yet the fishing has been very good even right after we get back out. Just amazing how great the Perch fishing has been this fall. Bad weather and all !
So Saturday "The Trophy" got to go back to work and what a AWESOME day we had ! After much graphing around and watching the fish finder while working our way out first thing in the morning, I finally settled on a patch of fish that I marked straight out from Ashtabula Harbor in about 50 foot of water. GAME ON ! We went on to catch 180 Jumbo's that weighed in at 88 lbs ! Almost a half pound average ! NICE ! And Sunday was another great weather day and although the fishing was a bit slower especially by mid day, we still managed to pull a 5 man limit of Jumbo's, 150 Perch that weighed in right at 75 lbs ! A true half pound average per Perch ! Can you even imagine ? 150 half pound pan fish ! That's about as good as it gets !
We are looking at a GREAT weather week this upcoming week with a nice bubble of great weather supposedly setting up for for whole entire week. As of right now, I am available for Perch charters Tuesday thru Thursday during the week and unbelievably I have all of the entire weekend next week available for those that just can't get away during the week. A prime open weekend in October. How rare is that for me ! Call me if you are interested. And if nobody calls, guess what ? I'm going to go fishing finally for myself ! I can hardly stand seeing everyone taking home all those massive bags of fillets each trip out and I don't have even one fish in the freezer ! LOL ! But truthfully with the long upcoming winter staring me right in the face, I would rather be "working" these last few days. It is what it is however and if nobody calls, then I'll just go fishing myself ! LOL !!!
