Fishing Report by Captain Ron Rusch

Walnut Creek Area: Walleye, Small mouth, and one big powerful cat.

Walnut Creek Area: Walleye, Small mouth, and one big powerful cat.

The cooler water has slowed the area walleye catch over the weekend. We did manage to catch a few north of Elk Creek in 52 feet of water.

The boys had a great time catching their own walleye on a drifted worm harness.

To speed up the action, small mouth action was selected. Drifting back to Walnut from Elk Creek in 20 to 30 feet two anglers became snagged. One broke his line while the other tried to break his 8 pound test. The line was about to be cut when I instructed that it’s coming with us. WHAT IS IT? Felt like a old tire or boot for ten minuets. IT’s FISHY! The swimming power of a big fish could be felt as it began to near the surface. WOW! What a big cat we had on the surface swimming all over. After a photo the cat was released for another angler fight.

The smallies were hitting fairly well dancing on the water.

The boys had a great time drifting for smallies. Golden shiners worked well another day.
This was one good day of fishing!
