Fishing Report by Captain Ron Rusch

Smallmouth Bass East of Presque Isle Erie PA

Smallmouth Bass East of Presque Isle Erie PA

Started fishing near Shades Beach with little luck. Water temperature 47 degrees and the water also muddy. No fish in 12 feet or 20 feet. Moved to the clearer water 38 feet and managed to catch one and a yellow perch and of course a few gobies. Moved around and caught a couple more here and there. Tried around the cribs and caught a nice 20 inch smallie.

Around noon the sun was out to stay and the water had begun to clear up when the action began to really heat up with smallies dancing on the water.

The best depth now was 12 to 15 feet with excellent action now.

Fish continued to hit the remainder of the time fished.
Bait used Golden Shiners
