4 Wheelers - Snowmobiles - Ice Boats …
There have been a number of calls & news stories concerning the use of these
methods of transportation on the Presque Isle Bay Ice. The Pennsylvania Fish
& Boat Commission does not regulate these unless they are on PFBC Owned or
Controlled Property. It is strongly suggested that operators & passengers of
these wear a Personal Floatation Device while operating on ice covered bodies
of water… it is not a legal requirement of our agency. The only time we
would become involved with their operation is if they would interfere with
legal fishing activities i.e.: running over rods, tip ups, etc… and then
probably only if it was done in a negligent or willful manner depending on
the circumstances. Presque Isle Park, City of Erie Police, Erie Parks Dept.,
Erie Port Authority, or Millcreek Township may have restrictions on their use
on specific properties or boat launches adjacent to the water's edge but the
PFBC does not as we have no owned or controlled property there.

Fishing Reports:

Misery Bay - Slab Bluegills being taken through the ice
Presque Isle Bay - Perch catches slowing off of Chestnut but picking up
toward the Western End
Edinboro Lake - Ice is "slushy" with little fishing activity.
Walnut Creek Boat Basin - Good Steelhead catches through the ice (black
mini-foo jigs)
Western Tribs - Mostly frozen but some areas of open fast water / watch for
thaws to yield some great steelhead fishing through April
Lake Pleasant - 3000 Rainbow Trout stocked just last month with plenty of
them left.
Union City Reservoir - Yielding a few panfish
Eaton Reservoir - Huge Crappies when ice conditions permit.

Fairview Gravel Pit & Lake Pleasant ... are both scheduled to be stocked in
February with Trout in the PFBC Late Winter Stocked Lake Program

Elk Valley Sportsmen Club Reverse Raffle - Being held on February 10th.
Tickets are still available through club officers at $60.00/couple or by
calling Lee Weaver at 814-922-3412. This is the club's only fundraiser of
the year and helps to support the Girard Boro Kid's Fishing Pond activities
... tickets normally sell out fast.

Wear a Life Jacket while Ice Fishing... It will keep you warm & possibly save
your life !!
