I had an excelent fishing trip to walnut creek today. Up at the tubes on rt.5 live minnows was the way to go 1 to 2 inches long and lively. I landed 7 steelies and had 6 break offs on my bait caster. I find it hard to believe that so few people use bait casters the drag on them is so much smoother than the open face real. I see so many people losing fish because there drag doesn't run smooth.
We started fishing at 8:30 and quit at 12:30 I can honestly say I was getting tired of catching these beautyfull fish. Size was averaging 22 to 27 inches with most averaging about 6 to 7 pounds. The fish were feeding on a small nymph of some type there was a hatch comeing off. I singled out these fish that were feeding, almost everyone took a minnow. Pay close attention to the fish rocking sideways and bumping there noses on the bottom they are feeding. They have to adapt to the shallower water this way to feed.
Bye the way all you fly fishermen there were two fellows below me that were having the time of there lives using these nymphs. They were catching more than me.

P.S. hope this helps some of you catch a few. good luck.
