the following report will be the last one for two weeks, for i'am going salmon fishing off the coast of washington state.

walnut: i have yet to drop a line in,because there is more people then fish. there is alot of fish in walnut more then any other creek at this time and there being caught now and then. power bait and blown worms down by the mouth are producing, fishing off the bottom.
in the holes upstream, single eggs drifted, along with the jig-maggot combo are working. the fish are becoming "fussy" so keep your presentation slow and as natural as you can.

elk: this weeks rain has moved fish all up and down the creek, fish are being caught south of route 20 and all the way down to the mouth. in three outings this week i was able to catch and release 7 steelhead. down around the mouth i caught them on,small spoon flies, and preserved minnows, in the upper holes drifting the preserved minnows was working so well i never tried anything else. the largest of the 7 was just a hair over 8 pounds the smallest was 15 inches.
all in all i had a blast, lost some landed some.

the earlier the better,a half hour before sunrise.
then at dusk.

good luck to Mr.Jon Reinhard who will be making his appearance next weekend, dress warm, bring a lunch. you will have a ball.
