Walnut Creek Habitat Project... more work was completed at the project by
digging out existing holes and placement of diversion banks. The eventual
objective is to make the area "self-scouring" to maintain fish holding
waters. As nothing of this type has been done previously to a stream with a
shale bed and such drastic water flow variations... it takes some
experimentation to perfect it. Regardless, the PFBC is working on a long
range plan for the area to assure quality fishing for years to come.

Steelhead were present Tuesday along the wall at the Walnut Access... a
couple anglers got 3 fish with sizes running from 7# to 10.75# . Look for
some upstream movement if the rains Wednesday discolor the creek. Cool
nights will keep them around for a few days. Remember... it is still August
!!

Walleye are hit & miss... one day and everyone gets their limit & the next
day they shut off. Reports are that they keep moving back toward the west.
Best spot has been the first trench from Raccoon to Elk Creeks.

Hats off to boaters on the Bay that attended the fireworks Sunday night. No
one crowded the safety perimeter and a calm, safe return to port was
performed when it was over. The only violation involved what appeared to be
a disabled boat that had 8 people on board with only 6 PFD's (life jackets).
Quite a nice event with the exception of the chilly temperatures.

Look for September to be a busy angling month. Perch will be returning to
shallower waters as the temperature cools, huge Steelies will be entering
streams, & residual Walleye will still be around.
