The beginning of May finds the "SeaWolf" drift fishing for small mouth bass in Presque Isle Bay. Action was fast right off the start with 17 to 19+ inch smallies making the net. These bronze backs are just like a foot ball, beautiful and health looking bass.

Occasional doubles were caught. One thing about small mouth bass is they sure like to fight with some showing their aerobatic skills. Only small mouth were caught this day.

Most of the fish were caught at or near the top of the drop offs between West Pier and the Monument. Water temperature was cold at 51 degrees. It was a sunny day and the surface temp got to 53 degrees.

The bait of choice was large golden shinners purchased from Poor Richards Bait and Tackle near Fairview 814-474-5623. We did catch one over 20 inches but it was in bad shape with sores over most of its tail. All in all we had some great small mouth drift fishing action aboard the "SeaWolf" all day. The captain also had a great time catching the biggest smallie.

Tight lines Captain Ron
