Walleye Fishing Report for Maumee and Sandusky Rivers April 14, 2003 Maumee River - 56°F, Normal water level. Walleye are at their peak spawning activity. Many anglers are catching limits. Best baits are floating jigs fished 24 inches below about 1 oz of weight. Tip the floating jig with a brightly colored plastic tail. Best areas are Orleans Park, Fort Meigs, Side Cut Park up to Jerome Road and Buttonwood Access. Outlook Excellent. Sandusky River - 56°F, River is normal to low. Anglers are taking some walleye – mostly males 18-20”. Best areas are from Hayes Street Bridge to State Street Bridge. Best baits are floating jigs fished 24 inches below about 1/2 oz of weight. Tip the floating jig with a brightly colored plastic tail. – chartreuse, pink, or orange seem to be working well. Outlook is good. We are at the tail end of the run on the Sandusky River and anglers are starting to catch a few White Bass |
