Walleye Fishing Report: NW Ohio (4/2/03)


Maumee River - 50°F, Water level is normal and clear. Fishing pressure is high. Anglers are catching very good numbers of walleye – mostly males 18-22” with an occasional larger female. Best areas are Fort Meigs & Bluegrass Island areas. The best baits seem to be the floating jigs tied about 12 inches above a ¼ oz. sinker tipped with orange or chartreuse plastic tails.

Sandusky River - 48°F, Water level is 6" over normal and muddy. Fishing presssure is very low. Anglers are catching fair numbers of 18”-22” male walleye with a few larger females. Best areas are between State St. & Hayes St. Best baits are floating jigs tied about 12 inches behind a ¼ oz. sinker tipped with orange, pink or chartreuse plastic tails.
