Walleye Fishing Report: NW Ohio (3/31/03)


Maumee River - 46°F, Water level is slightly high and turbid. Fishing pressure is light. Anglers are catching a few walleye – mostly males 16-22”. Best areas are from Orleans Park to Fort Meigs. The island is inaccessible. A wide variety of baits have been catching walleye including floating jigs tied about 12 inches above a 1/4 oz. sinker tipped with orange or chartreuse plastic tails.

Sandusky River - 48°F, Water is near normal level. Anglers are catching both male and female walleye. Best area is downtown Fremont. Best baits are floating jigs tied about 12 inches behind a 1/4 oz. sinker tipped with white, pink or chartreuse plastic tails.
