Walleye Fishing Report: NW Ohio (3/28/03)


Maumee River - 47°F, River is in very good fishing condition. Anglers are catching both male and female walleye. Fishing pressure is moderate. Many walleye are being caught with some limits. Best areas are Side Cut Park, Buttonwood and Bluegrass Island. A wide variety of baits have been catching walleye including floating jigs tied about 12 inches above a 1/4 oz. sinker tipped with orange, white, chartreuse or hot pink plastic tails. Outlook is very good.

Sandusky River - 50°F, River is excellent fishing condition. Anglers are catching both male and female walleye. Fishing pressure is high. Over half of the anglers this morning caught walleye. Some limits being caught. Anglers are catching both male and female walleye. Best area is downtown Fremont. Best baits are floating jigs tied about 12 inches behind a 1/4 oz. sinker tipped with white, pink or chartreuse plastic tails. Outlook is excellent.
