Still slow. The wind the last two weeks just has not let up. Almost everyday gale winds have ripped the western basin into a muddy mess. This past weekend the winds eased and air temps. finally returned to normal. The damage however from all of the wind was evident in everyones fish boxes. Most boats struggled to catch a Walleye or two. We managed to box 10 on Wednesday fishing on Niagara Reef. Thursday and Friday most boats stayed in safe harbor as winds picked up again. Saturday was very tough but we managed to save the day by catching a nice mess of Smallmouths on Flat Rock Reef jigging Heddon Sonars. The Fire Tiger color worked the best in the muddy water. The trollers are still struggling. The fish are stacked heavy around the islands but they are still turned off. The weather sounds better for this coming week with warmer temps. hanging around but the weatherman is already using the "breezy word so I am already concerned. I plan on breaking into the nightcrawlers seriously this week and do some trolling if its not too windy. Things should really start to happen if the water clears up some. Water temps. have gone nowhere; hanging in at about 51.
