Western Basin Walleye Where: Fishing was excellent 2 to 3 miles north of West Sister Island, between West Sister Island and the gravel pit, north of West Reef, south of Starve Island, between North Bass Island and Gull Island Shoal along the Canadian border, and around Kelleys Island Shoal. How: Anglers trolling have caught fish using crankbaits (mostly deep diving Reef Runners), spoons behind divers, and also worm harnesses with inline weights or bottom bouncers. Anglers casting are using weight forward spinners or mayfly rigs. Yellow Perch Where: Yellow perch have been caught near Ballast Island. How: Perch spreaders or crappie rigs with shiners fished near the bottom produce the most fish.
