Well we have another cold snap starting today, but the weekend looks to warm up. We need a few good sunny days and cool nights to clear the snow off the top of the ice. They had a lot of problems over the weekend due to the snow and the Coast Guard was busy. Just remember the snow will insulate the ice and the current will cut it, so don't take it for granted.
Also, the cracks are out there, at Green Is, Mouse reef, and off of east harbor and they are in high current areas.
The ice runs from a few inches to 14 inches off of Catawba state park.
Crane creek has very poor push ice and a few airboats were running from shore. Rickards bait is still open and they have bait and supplies.
I will be back on the ice on friday and monday next week. Catching has been spotty, but remember we are in feb. now and the fish should start moving in.
Good and safe fishing.
Capt Bob Hughey
