Well I'm finally back from having problems with the computer system, but just in time for the great winter ice fishing.
We put our boats away one month ago and with the weather it seems like a complete season ago. When we put the boats up the walleye had moved back to the island area and the perch were very big, the ones that were in the cooler, I mean 13-14.5 inch class, which were very big for the western basin.
Right now on 12-15-10 the lake is almost covered to the island area and from Catawba island to Dave Bessie was covered. The Sandusky bay was covered with the channel being open and one long icefishing shanty was out on the old bay bridge yesterday.
The outlook is that if the cold keeps up we should have some fishable ice by early january next year.
That's good ice and if we are lucky the coast guard will not cut ice in the north passage.
I will keep you up to date
I will be booking two person ice fishing charters starting after the holidays.
Good fishin
Capt Bob Hughey
