Grant education workshops slated for October

SANDUSKY, OH - Applications for $250,000 in grants are being accepted for projects that preserve, protect and enhance Ohio’s Lake Erie coastal resources, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Office of Coastal Management.

The Coastal Management Assistance Grants are available to communities, local government agencies, non-profit organizations, planning commissions and educational institutions. The grants, which are awarded on a competitive basis, will be announced next spring. Funding priority will be given to projects focused on comprehensive community planning and watershed management to address nonpoint source pollution and balanced growth. Applicants must provide at least 50 percent of the project’s funding.

Applications and guidelines for the Coastal Management Assistance Grants program are available online at ohiodnr.com/coastal/grants or by contacting the ODNR Office of Coastal Management at 419-626-7980. Grant applications will be accepted through November 18.

Grant application workshops will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19 at Cleveland Lakefront State Park, 8701 Lakeshore Blvd. N.E.; and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, October 20 at the ODNR Division of Watercraft Office, 1630 Sycamore Line, Sandusky.
