*Lake Erie surface temperatures are below 40 degrees. Be sure to check the
latest marine forecast for up-to-date lake conditions.*

Recent weather conditions have limited fishing opportunities.

The open water fishery is becoming very limited. With dropping temperatures
shallow accesses are icing over. The only reports recently have been from
the Huron River pier. Walleye have been caught at night by anglers casting
crankbaits.

Steelhead:

All of the major streams (Chagrin, Grand, Vermilion, Rocky rivers, and
Conneaut Creek) are beginning to drop after cresting on Wednesday. Some of
the smaller tributaries to Lake Erie, such as Euclid Creek, Cowles Creek,
Wheeler Creek, and Arcola Creek should be fishable by Friday. Spawn sacks
or jig and maggots work best, although fly anglers will also catch fish on
sucker spawn, wooly buggers, and other choices. Check with local bait shops
for up-to-date river conditions.
