SHIELDCASTLE NAMED WILDLIFE RESEARCH STATION PROJECT LEADER AT CRANE CREEK COLUMBUS, OH -- Mark Shieldcastle has been named research project leader for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. He will work out of ODNR's Crane Creek Wildlife Research Station in Ottawa County. In his new position, Shieldcastle will oversee wetlands wildlife research programs; including monitoring the continued health of Ohio's eagle population, trumpeter swans, ducks, geese, sandhill crane and mammals such as beaver, river otter, mink and muskrats. Shieldcastle joined the ODNR Division of Wildlife in 1976 as a wildlife conservation aide after spending two years on staff at The Ohio State University's Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit. Shieldcastle is a 1974 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in wildlife management. A native of Springfield, Ohio, Shieldcastle resides in Oak Harbor with his wife Julie.
